https://metrorichmondart.org/Blue is the color of trust, responsibility, and relaxation. Depending on the tone, blue symbolizes loyalty or authority. Within blue’s emotional range is the capacity to evoke calm and serene. The sky is blue, suggesting the expansive heavens, and the possibilities before us. “Kind of Blue” is also a 1959 studio album by American jazz trumpeter Miles Davis, in luxurious modal jazz. The art of this show uses the color blue to call forth these emotions.
Exhibit opens Thursday, July 14, 2022, from 6-8 pm and runs through September 14, 2022.
The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen offers residents and visitors in the metropolitan Richmond region an unparalleled opportunity to experience the arts, entertain new ideas, develop a new talent, and experience first-hand all the best this community has to offer.
Metro Richmond Artists (MRAA) promotes and encourages the creation of visual art. Its history as Richmond’s oldest non-profit professional art association began when a group of full-time art instructors and other professional artists from the Richmond Professional Institute (now Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Arts) started the area’s very first art organization in 1955. MRAA brings education to the Richmond community through workshops, programs, and outstanding art exhibitions. Comprised of professional, working artists, a juried membership provides the fellowship of like-minded artists and the opportunity for prominent exposure and sales via group shows. More information is available at MetroRichmondArt.org.
