OPENING MINDS THROUGH ART (OMA)
This award-winning Scripps inter-generational art program allows people with dementia to create vibrant works of abstract art inviting us into a world of bold colors and exciting designs.
Our goal at The OMA Center is to help create a society that values older adults with dementia. We achieve this by building genuine friendships between people with dementia and volunteers as they engage in art-making. Additionally, we offer education, respite, and fellowship for caregivers. Our goals are achieved by:
• Providing creative self-expression opportunities that promote the social engagement, autonomy, and dignity of people with dementia;
• Providing staff and volunteers with opportunities to build intimate relationships with people with dementia;
• Educating the general public on the creative self-expression capacities of people with dementia through exhibitions of their artwork;
• Contributing to the scholarly literature on dementia care and the arts.
We invite you to attend the November 14th grand opening of this special exhibit and meet the amazing artists in this award-winning program.
REGIONAL & OTHER SPLENDORS
Robert J. Schuler is inspired by the beauty that surrounds us in nature, small towns, and waterways. Through his paintings, he enjoys preserving and communicating the beauty that he sees through the viewfinder of his camera.
MEMORIES OF NORTHERN GHANA
Chief Babs’ artwork comes from his memories of growing up in Northern Ghana, surrounded by Dagomba culture. Since coming to the United States in 2011, he uses painting and artwork to remember and celebrate traditional African dance, music, village life, hard work, and family.
RVA-LUG CELEBRATES 10 YEARS IN BRICK
The Richmond Virginia LEGO® Users Group is a hobby club for AFOLs (Adult Fans of LEGO) in the Central Virginia area and beyond, from Roanoke to Williamsburg and Emporia to Fredericksburg.
