As participants in artoberVA, Richmond Triangle Players is happy to announce a Pay What You Will performance of Conversations with Mother by Matthew Lombardo. The play recently ended its off-Broadway run in late April of this year. RTP’s production will mark its first production outside of New York.

Conversations with Mother is the heartwarming and hilarious new play by Matthew Lombardo. The semi-autobiographical comedy traces the relationship between Italian matriarch Maria Collavechio (played by Sara Heifetz) and her gay son (Daniel Daigle) spanning the course of five decades. As they continue to test their lifelong bond, the play depicts the outrageously funny and sometimes completely infuriating dynamic between a conventional mother and her free-spirited son. 

RTP’s production is directed by acclaimed actor/director Deejay Gray, returning for the first time to Richmond since his award-winning performance in The Inheritance. Gray will also design the set. “This show is the hug that the community needs right now,” says Gray and Assistant Director, Juliana Caycedo.
