“RVA Scenes” by Shaina Cilimberg
Shaina Cilimberg finds aesthetic scenes around Richmond, VA that inspire her work in Acrylic, Watercolor and Digital Art. She has been making art most of her adult life. At 23, she started browsing the art galleries and places with art in Harrisonburg Va. She developed an interest in creating art, then in 2013, she moved back to Richmond Va, where she enjoys the art scene.
Shaina Cilimberg loves making art of coffee shops, people, animals, landscapes, and cityscapes. She is an activist for woman, people with disabilities and injustice. Shaina’s recent artivism series last exhibited at anne’s Visual Art Studio gallery in their Main Gallery 2021 focused on raising awareness for people with depression and suicidal thoughts, particularly those like her with disabilities.
Shaina wants to make art that is meaningful and enjoyable. She perseveres through autism, OCD, ADHD, hearing loss, Scoliosis and gate disorder. She is an inspiration to us all.

“Warli Art “ by Nisha Jaiswal
Warli painting is a form of mural art created by the tribal people from the Maharashtra, a western state in India. The Warlis are an indigenous tribe living in the mountain and coastal areas of Maharashtra.
Warli is an art form that depicts everyday life stories and culture cherished by the tribe. The tribe speaks an unwritten Varli language, and the tradition and knowledge is passed orally from generation to generation in the form of stories. These stories are drawn on the wall of their houses and community common areas in the form of beautiful art. Traditionally, Warli is drawn on mud surfaces using rice and water paste in earth colors over a white background. It depicts the daily activities ranging from farming, harvesting, hunting, fishing, cooking as well as social gatherings like weddings, birth, festivals, etc.
The ARTIST
Nisha Jaiswal was born in the royal state of Rajasthan (a western state in India,) She has been interested in the arts since her early days. Nisha graduated in India with bachelor’s in arts and a diploma in Fashion Design. A self-learned artist, Nisha gets her motivation from the rich and diverse art and culture across India. Apart from painting, she loves stitching, dancing and cooking.
Artist Statement
Since childhood, I used colors to express different emotions. As I grew up in the western part of India, Warli art always attracted me, as it depicts the day-to-day life of the Warli tribe in a very simple yet very explanatory manner. It uses geometrical patterns to describe every aspect of their life. I modified the traditional art by using colors and plaster of Paris (POP) to give it a more illustrative look. I experimented with fusing different tribal and regional arts of India trying to preserve the authenticity of each individual form of art.
