The Window Series
For several years we stayed safely in our homes, away from crowds. These paintings employ a window view from an interior setting, looking out towards the scene outdoors. Patient, hopeful and even somewhat cheery, they focus on the barrier between us and the freedom to roam, while we sit and wait. The quotations reflect various moods of introspection on the part of the unseen person in the settings.

Artist Statement
Terrie Powers

Terrie Powers, a Richmond, Virginia-based visual artist, has exhibited locally and from NYC to Palm Beach since the 1980’s. Her paintings reside in many corporate and private collections. She usually works with water-based paints so the work can be multi-layered with many layers, using various techniques to throw, drip or brush the paints.  She likes to paint large, the bigger the better. Terrie likes themes that relate to nature, mythology and metaphorical representation.

She also worked as a theatrical set designer and scenic artist with Virginia Repertory Theatre (once Theatre IV and Barksdale Theatres) since 1981. Her sets for young audiences have been seen by thousands nationwide. 

Select collections of her paintings are at Westminster Canterbury, the Children’s Hospital of Richmond, and at the main branch of Richmond public library.

Terrie Powers was a member of 1708 Gallery from 1986-2002, and was then an emeritus member.

She was honored as one of Style Weekly’s Women in the Arts in 2013.
