This exhibit is a tribute to the 50th birthday of Virginia is for Lovers and a celebration of 50 years of Love in Prince George County and the couples who have literally lived it. This wonderful exhibit reflects an outpouring from County residents to share their LOVE stories, their photos, wedding gowns, portraits, cake toppers, going away outfit - it is all about weddings. Three of the wedding dresses and a bridesmaid's dress were worn in 1969 weddings, while the oldest dress in the exhibit is from a 1942 wedding. Some of the dresses were made by the brides or their mothers. One has silver thread intertwined at the waist. Some had smaller weddings, others more formal. One portrait has the groom in uniform. There are photos of 50th and even a 70th anniversary parties. The Wedding Register from historic Martin's Brandon Episcopal Church that is over 400 years old and still active is there, as are the kneelers from historic Merchants Hope Church. It is a must see! Open Tuesdays - Saturdays, 10 AM - 4 PM through June 15.
