As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, Dr. Ayers will explore how early Americans grappled with aligning national ideals and lived realities and how their struggles still resonate today. Drawing from his latest book, American Visions, Ayers highlights voices of dissent and innovation from Frederick Douglass to Henry David Thoreau, who helped shape our nation's identity in times of great challenge. Dr. Ayers is an award-winning author, educator, and historian. He has served as the President of the University of Richmond, and Dean at the University of Virginia.
