Journey through the grasslands of Inner Mongolia with a concert from Anda Union. Arrayed in stunning traditional Mongolian clothing, the nine-member group creates unforgettable rhythms with throat-singing and traditional instruments including the morin khuur (horse-headed fiddle) and the maodun chaoer (three-holed flute). As with all nomads, the Mongols have an oral culture, passed on from generation to generation in stories, music, and songs and thus, Anda Union sing their history. Recommended for all ages.
This free event is part of the Tucker-Boatwright Festival of Literature and the Arts.
Arrive early for a pre-performance discussion with members of Anda Union at 6:30 PM.
Sponsored in part by The E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation.
