This powerful quote is from one of classical music’s most treasured and troubled composers, Johannes Brahms.

“On the cover you must have a picture, namely a head with a pistol to it. Now you can form some conception of the music! I’ll send you my photograph for the purpose.”

On March 3, CMSCVA pairs two iconic pieces of chamber music written by Johannes Brahms - the Piano Quartets in C minor and G minor. These impressive and emotional works are the musical products of both the composer’s struggle with life and the joy he found in it. This concert is preceded by 15-minute chat with CMSCVA Artistic Director James Wilson starting at 3:30pm.

With: Jason Amos viola (Boston, MA), Diana Cohen violin (Calgary, Canada), Roman Rabinovich piano (New York, NY), James Wilson cello (New York, NY)
