http://www.blackhistorymuseum.org #BHMVA, exhibition, blackcartoons,"I grew up in segregated Richmond during the fifties and sixties. There were not many people who looked like us in the media - especially on television and even more rare - in cartoons. My all-time favorite was Fat Albert. Needless to say, he and the gang dominate my collection." Bill Cooper’s collection of original animation cels are those used in the production of cartoons or animated movies. Each frame of a scene was drawn by hand; an entire movie may require a million such cels. Each has its own attraction that is usually dependent on the collector’s preference. His focus was to collect Black cartoons.
