This JABBIES® program is all about sales

Our guests include senior acquisitions editors from one of the hottest houses in publishing, a regional sales rep who sells the published books to independent bookstores, and the senior buyer and owner of Fountain Bookstore.

So, you will see every step of the process of how a book gets into a bookstore from when it leaves the authors' hands and makes its way to the publishing house for acquisition and how the editors demonstrate their love for their titles to the sales reps who then spread the word to the book buyers in the stores who then bring it to you!

You will also get a peek into how imprints and sub-imprints work within one of the major publishing houses.

Our guests will also be sharing their favorite current and forthcoming titles from the lists at the end of the program.

More about JABBIES®, Tor Books, and Our Guests:

JABBIES® will be hybrid (simulcast on Crowdcast)!  Invite anyone you know interested in the publishing industry!

In response to your requests to learn more about the industry of publishing as well as individual authors, we present JABBIES®: Judge-A-Book-By-Its-Spine®.

This is a series of conversations with publishing professionals in editing, publishing, marketing, and publicity from publishers and imprints with very strong brands.  Owner of Fountain Kelly Justice will host these informal q&a's with these people at the top of their game with houses that consistently deliver great books.

You will learn:

--why certain books get published

--why some books become bestsellers and others fail

--the do's and don'ts of communication within the industry

--the latest in marketing trends

--the behind-the-scenes of the book industry from top to bottom

And please bring your questions!  This new programming is all about getting curious about the book industry.
