Thursday, March 30 at 5:00pm to 9:00pm
This workshop aims to use Rafael Domenech’s exhibition The Medium is the Massage as an invitation to local artists and students to explore the ways in which writing can be generative to production of artworks.
The premise is counterintuitive: Instead of producing objects and then writing about them, what if one shaped fictional, worldbuilding narratives that in turn immanently suggest forms. One can think of the way that certain sci-fi stories not only present uncanny objects, but open a space of possibility. Some artists who may point in this direction are Etel Adnan, Bjorn Mergard, Bernadette Corporation, and Dennis Balk.
