For Darrick Claiborne, a painting begins with a blank canvas or a computer screen. Typically, the paintings are created with acrylic paint on canvas. Darrick also creates digital paintings that are printed and converted to mixed media by applying acrylic paint, fabric, jewels and oil pastel. He has a huge interest in fashion and the subjects of his paintings embody the essence of his interpretation of urban opulence with the irony of juxtaposition.
