Friday, August 10 at 10:00am to 4:00pm
Thursday, August 9, and Friday, August 10 | 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
This summer workshop by Curney Nuffer is for artists who want to learn about portrait painting (head and hands). Two days of classes, with a brief break fo lunch, will first explore how to approach sketching and then building the form of the human figure by painting dark to light. The model will be lit and emphasis will be placed on seeing the values of skin tones and using color.
The palette that Curney uses originated at the Art Students League in New York. It requires the use of only seven tube colors of paint and white and is key to building a strong foundation for painting the human form based upon simplicity. Even if you don’t want to paint figures or portraits, the lessons you will greatly improve your future work. Curney will explain and show you how to mix the palette during the workshop. You will practice with the mixed palette before painting the model.
A supply list and more class info will be sent to every student via email in advance. Fee: $125, includes model fee. No refunds once classes have started.
