Books, Beads & More will host Parks Rountry on November 23, 2024.

We will have our biggest collection of Parks Rountrey's work this day. You'll be able to meet the man who has captivated your attention with his photography. You can also ask him about his work!

Parks Rountrey is an award winning photographer/artist and long-time resident of Hanover County, VA. His photography started as a hobby in 2015. Since then, his photography has become more of a passion. His work is primarily local in Central Virginia - featuring local wildlife, flowers and landscapes and is noted for clear, crisp details and soft contrasting backgrounds (Bokeh). He has won many awards at art shows and photography competitions – including many first place and “Best in Show” awards. His work is often included in juried shows at Richmond’s largest art galleries. He's had many photos published in Virginia Wildlife Magazine, Birds & Blooms magazine, the Richmond Times Dispatch Newspaper and on local TV stations. Accolades continue in 2021. In April the Richmond Times Dispatch used some of his photos (including front page) for a feature story about the restoration of the bald eagle population along the James River. In September he took “best of show” honors at the State Fair of Virginia photo competition. In 2021 - 2022 the Science Museum of Virginia had a five-month exhibit titled “Birds of the Commonwealth” which featured 14 of his amazing bird photographs.

Both the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Scenic Virginia Virginia selected his works for their "Fan Favorite " popular vote run off in their 2022 photo contest.

In 2023, his prolific nature photography continued to get attention. His 2 works on display at the Glen Allen Cultural Arts Centers "Sight Unseen" Exhibit in March 2023 - both Sold. The July/August 2023 Photography Showcase issue of Virginia Wildlife Magazine included 2 of wildlife photo's. His work was featured in Scenic Virginia's Beauty Blast promotion. During 2023, 35 of his nature photos were displayed at juried art shows in various galleries around Richmond.

It is still going strong in 2024.
