Artist statement:
Melchisedek Shabazz is a multidisciplinary artist based in Richmond, Virginia. Using printmaking techniques as his main influence, Shabazz creates art that reflect the experiences of queer African americans through the lenses of self discovery, mental health, and celebration. 

Prelude is an introductory to the ever expanding artistic world Shabazz is creating. Through a variety of mediums, Shabazz illustrates the highs and lows of navigating his early adulthood and career while posing questions he yet has answers for: Where does my creativity come from? Who am I without art? What is my purpose?
