Ready Readers are elementary-age children learning the joy of books through reading. Every Saturday from 11 am to 12 pm children in grades kindergarten to 5th grade will read to one another. Non-readers will learn reading skills. The library staff at Hull Street Branch Library will read to the children, organize fun reading activities, including book discussions, and present a light snack. Reading material (books) will come from the shelves of Richmond Public Library, and activities will include Richmond Public Schools materials. This program will develop special bonds with your child and the library. It will improve language skills, also imagination, and creativity, while cultivating a lifelong love of reading, especially at the Richmond Public Library. It is mandatory that the legal guardian accompany the child for the entire hour.

Please sign up at the Hull Street Library, 1400 Hull Street, Richmond, VA 23224. For more information call 804-646-8699.

This program is part of the Get Lit Literacy Initiative which includes Lit Chicks Read Book Clubs and BMER (Black Male Emergent Readers Program).
