On Saturday, May 5, the Shady Grove Coffeehouse continues its seventeenth season with a concert by legendary singer-songwriters Robin and Linda Williams. According to Garrison Keillor, “individually their voices can melt cheese, and in duet they can do all-purpose welding.”  For more than four decades now, Robin & Linda Williams have made it their mission to perform the music that they love, "a robust blend of bluegrass, folk, old-time and acoustic country that combines wryly observant lyrics with a wide-ranging melodicism." Today some might call it "Americana," but these two revered music masters were living and breathing this elixir 20 years before that label was turned into a radio format.  Developed at the beginning of the “singer songwriter” craze in the 1970’s, Robin and Linda’s unique style of music is steeped in the traditional music of the Appalachian Mountains, the Mississippi Delta, British Isles, Louisiana and Quebec.  They engage audiences with their powerful singing, their gift for capturing moments of universal life in their songs, and a rare personal appeal.  And, as the Washington Post put it, they are “able to sum up a life in a few details with moving completeness."
