About this Event
2501 Monument Ave, Richmond, VA 23220
We warmly invite you to our upcoming exhibition, The Shadow of a Petal: Floral Design Inside the County Jail on July 11th from 6-9pm at the Branch Museum.
The project is centered around a series of Floral Therapy workshops at Chesterfield County Jail’s nationally recognized recovery program, H.A.R.P. (Helping Addicts Recover Progressively), led by horticultural therapist and clinical social worker Becca Amos and floral designer Meredith Wheeler of Secret Flowers.
The exhibition features first-hand participant accounts, process photography, portraits, and completed floral arrangements. It explores how creative, nature-based interventions can foster emotional expression, healing, and self-reflection—even in the most restrictive environments—and invites a broader conversation about the systems that serve people from nature and the possibilities for therapeutic practice in carceral spaces.
100% of proceeds from this exhibition will be donated to the H.A.R.P. RVA recovery program.
Parking is available in the church lot next door, and guests are encouraged to enter through the back garden entrance.
We hope to see you there!
