Our 2019-20 season thus begins at Firehouse Theatre, and we look forward to bringing the eerie Halloween aura through our music! Featuring a mix of classical tracks to recognizable movie tunes, we hope you will join us for an evening of spooky sounds! Donations to support the orchestra will be accepted at the door!
Music and Medicine is VCU Health System’s initiative to help connect the healthcare team to greater Richmond through the arts and to foster a sense of creative community among our musicians. The orchestra was founded in the fall of 2017 by Theresa Erichsen, RN and Francesco Celi, MD, and has since grown from 10 interested musicians to 50 regular musicians. Our mission is to promote wellness and enhance relationships among team members, patients, families, visitors and the community, and to support fundraising for local health related charities. The musicians are a mix of VCU pharmacists, doctors, occupational therapists, nurses, healthcare students, and community music professionals. We have performed for graduations and award ceremonies alike, and played for VCU Health, around the community with Classical Revolutions RVA, and at the Veteran Affairs Hospital here in Richmond. We look forward to continued celebrations with the hospital and community as well as opportunities like this to play in amazing venues around the city.
