Visiting Artist Talk: Andréa Keys Connell

Workshop: Saturday, May 9th & Sunday, May 10th, 10:00-5:00pm, $400 per person

Attend Andréa’s artist talk and presentation on Wednesday, then come back Saturday and Sunday for her two day workshop focusing on handbuilding and underglazing.

In this 2 day intensive workshop, we will build and underglaze fabulous, colorful heads! Andréa will demonstrate her hollow building technique that she uses to build at any scale. We will talk about facial expression, and how to tell a story through gesture and gaze. On the second day of the workshop, we will go over underglazing techniques and firing methods. Andréa will demonstrate how she develops patterns and color that work in conversation with the emotion of her pieces. Everyone will have the opportunity to underglaze their heads.

This is a weekend long intensive workshop. All wares should be taken home with you at the end of the day on Sunday, May 10th, or placed on the greenware shelf for firing, as this intensive does not allow for storage. Tools are available but it is suggested that you bring your own or purchase a kit from the studio. Bring a bag lunch and snacks for both days!
