Beginners Group Guitar for Kids

Sound Hall Studios is excited to offer Kids Guitar Classes in Henrico, VA for young musicians ages 10–14 who are ready to pick up the guitar and start making music. This beginner group guitar class is designed for students who have never played before as well as those who have experimented with a few chords at home.

With eight weekly classes, students will learn the fundamentals of guitar in a fun, supportive, and encouraging group environment.

What Kids Will Learn in Guitar Class

These beginner guitar lessons for kids focus on building fundamental skills while making music fun from day one. Throughout the eight-week class, students will learn:

The basic parts of the guitar and how they work
Introductory chords that open the door to countless songs
How to switch between chords while maintaining rhythm
Techniques for improving the sound of individual notes and chords
Several songs that bring everything together

Every lesson is designed to help students build confidence as they learn. Rather than overwhelming beginners with too much information at once, students will develop their skills step-by-step and leave each class feeling accomplished and excited to practice at home.

Learning an instrument is about more than simply playing the right notes. Kids guitar lessons can help young musicians develop confidence, creativity, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for music.

At Sound Hall Studios, we believe learning music should be encouraging, welcoming, and fun. Group classes also give students the opportunity to learn alongside other young musicians, make connections, and experience the excitement of making music together.

Meet Your Guitar Instructor: Theocles Herrin

Theocles is a singer, songwriter, and music teacher with a genuine passion for helping students discover the joy of music. He has more than six years of experience teaching guitar, vocal, ukulele, songwriting, and band lessons at Charlottesville-based nonprofit The Front Porch.

His teaching style centers on one core belief: music is meant to be fun. Theocles uses a fluid and adaptable approach that meets students where they are and helps make practice feel enjoyable rather than overwhelming.

He is excited to bring his experience and passion for music education to Sound Hall Studios and introduce a new generation of musicians to the guitar.
