Chief Adjuah
The artoberVA Pay-What-You-Will Event Series allows audiences to name their price of admission at select venues across the region throughout October. Chief Adjuah (formerly Christian Scott) is a five-time Grammy nominated musician, composer, producer, storyteller, chieftain, and innovator. His remarkable musical palette stretches jazz’s conventions to encompass a wide spectrum of musical forms and cultures.
As the grandson of legendary Big Chief, Donald Harrison Sr., and the nephew of jazz innovator and legendary saxophonist-composer, Dr. Big Chief Donald Harrison, Jr., Chief Adjuah keeps the legacy of his forebears alive with his eye on the future. He embraces a 21st-century approach, asserting genre blindness and an ethnomusicological approach to limitless fusion.
Don’t miss the performer who “ushers in a new era of jazz” (NPR)!
