Many nouns can represent a group of cats: clowder, clutter, glaring, pounce, and cluster. My cluster consists of dozens of cats that have lived with me during my adult life, mostly at my long-time home known as “Fort Bast,” named in honor of the goddess of cats, Bastet. The paintings shown in “Cluster Memories from Fort Bast,” depict portraits and narrative stories of a number of the cats who’ve made up my feline family through the years.
Award Winning Richmond artist, Dana Frostick studied sculpture at VCU in the mid-eighties and became a full-time artist after retiring from the Times-Dispatch in 1999. She has exhibited extensively locally and regionally. Dana devoted 25 years to Artspace Richmond. She is an avid bicycler and a self-proclaimed “kittiot” (one who loves cats beyond reason).
