Sew/Stain
Create your very own custom, hand sewn, patchwork tote bag from recycled fabrics. This 6 week course teaches basic sewing skills.
This is the first workshop of this series!! Sew/Stain is a wordplay on sustainability, and teaches students the basic skills needed to hand sew any item.
We are kicking off this series with Fiber artist Elizabeth Anyaa. Elizabeth has been working with fiber, recycled materials, and textiles in her work for over 20 years. She has a passion for the youth, and is excited to share her skills and knowledge in this series through a custom made tote bag. Students will spend 6 weeks with Elizabeth learning different fabrics, cutting, and hand sewing techniques. This workshop is reserved for 6-12th grade students, and is a 6 week commitment. The workshop is free, but space is limited, please yield RSVPs to other students if you can not commit to the full 6 weeks.
Dates of classes are as follows: October 1st, 6th, 8th, 13th, 15th, 20th, 22nd, 27th, 29th November 3rd, 5th.
