Founded in 2013 by Artistic Director Margarette Joyner, The Heritage Ensemble Theatre Co. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to producing high quality theatrical productions in the Richmond, VA area while creating a home for actors, collaborating with local organizations and educating the community in the creative process. Joyner’s theatrical style will immerse the audience into different worlds of the African American diaspora.

Vision: To focus all of its efforts in the direction of the African American experience and those interested in preserving that legacy; to get to the heart and soul of our stories and be an inspirational beacon to the community at large.

Mission: To preserve African American stories through performances and workshops. To create quality productions, provide workshops conducted by professional instructors and to teach beginning performers techniques that will take them beyond surface acting and delve into the truth of the art. To provide an ongoing opportunity for African American artists to perform; and to give the community an on-going opportunity to attend productions that are a reflection of them and their lives. To create a safe and positive environment with a variety of productions, but our main focus is geared toward family oriented shows at an affordable rate. To give back support others and to allow room for continuous learning.  Founded in 2013 by Artistic Director Margarette Joyner, The Heritage Ensemble Theatre is a nonprofit organization dedicated to producing high quality theatrical productions in the Richmond, VA area while creating a home for actors, collaborating with local organizations and educating the community in the creative process.
