Professional Company Artist

The Latin Ballet of Virginia (LBV) is seeking dynamic, expressive, and versatile dance artists to join our Professional Company for the upcoming season.

LBV Professional Company Artists participate in paid rehearsals and performances throughout the year, including mainstage productions, community and educational outreach programs, festivals, cultural events, touring engagements, and special performances throughout Richmond, Virginia, and beyond.

This opportunity is ideal for dancers who want to continue performing professionally without the commitment of a full-time company schedule. Company Artists are offered performance and rehearsal opportunities throughout the season based on repertoire, casting, availability, and the needs of each engagement.

About the Work

LBV’s repertoire brings together a variety of dance traditions and artistic influences, including ballet, contemporary movement, Flamenco, Afro-Cuban, and other Latin American and culturally rooted forms.

Dancers are not expected to enter the company as specialists in every style represented in our repertoire. We are looking for artists who bring a strong foundation in their existing training while demonstrating the curiosity, adaptability, musicality, and respect necessary to explore new movement languages and cultural traditions.

In addition to theatrical performances, LBV has a strong commitment to community engagement and arts education. Company Artists may participate in outreach performances and programs in schools, museums, libraries, festivals, community spaces, and other venues throughout the year.

• Versatility, musicality, and expressive movement
• Professionalism, reliability, and preparedness
• Ability to learn and retain choreography quickly
• Openness to feedback and continued artistic growth
• Willingness to train in unfamiliar dance forms and movement traditions
• Respect for the cultural foundations and histories represented in LBV’s work
• A collaborative spirit and ability to work as part of an ensemble
• Enthusiasm for performance, cultural storytelling, and community engagement
• English/Spanish bilingual ability is a plus, but not required

Compensation & Commitment

Rehearsals and performances are paid.

LBV’s Professional Company is a great fit for artists who want to maintain an active professional performance career while balancing other work, teaching, school, family, or artistic commitments.

Company Artists participate throughout the season based on casting, repertoire, performance needs, and individual availability. This is not a traditional full-time company position.

Auditions

Dancers interested in joining the Professional Company are invited to attend our upcoming Professional Company Auditions on Thursday, September 3rd at Dominion Energy Center. 

Auditioning dancers are strongly encouraged to participate in the Afro-Cuban Fusion Workshop immediately preceding the audition. The workshop provides an opportunity to train with LBV’s artistic team, experience our approach to movement, and become familiar with a style dancers may also choose to continue studying with LBV throughout the season.
