Roots of Revolution: Shockoe Bottom Walking Tour

Commemorate #VA250 in Richmond with the Valentine! Step into the past in Shockoe Bottom, one of Richmond’s oldest historic districts, to learn about the struggles for freedom that shaped our nation. Join Richmond’s most experienced guides as we explore this historic neighborhood that was both the center of the domestic slave trade and the birthplace of American religious liberty. We’ll visit Richmond’s canal walk, explore the remnants of Richmond’s industrial origins, and stop by the Henry “Box” Brown monument.
This tour has been reviewed by Sportable for wheelchair accessibility, ensuring that individuals of all abilities can participate comfortably. This easy, 1-mile walk includes a scavenger hunt for kids.

Advanced tickets are required. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for members, and free for children. Tickets are non-refundable.
Valentine walking tours are typically between 1-2 miles in length. We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water.
